Support the MCC today! Give Day 2023 is here!

Give Day 2023

Dear Community Members,

The MCC is thrilled to participate in UCSB’s Give Day campaign! Our involvement in the Give Day campaign will allow you to learn more about the MCC and support the services, resources, and programs we offer to the campus community and beyond. Specifically, your donations will support our four main pillars: social justice educational programming, student engagement, community empowerment, and research-based outreach.

These pillars are key to our mission of honoring and creating opportunities for student development, advocacy and empowerment in their academic, professional, personal, and communal pursuits. Listed below are examples of programming that illustrate our pillars.

Social Justice Educational Programming and the Resilient Love Series: The series features visiting artists, academics, and activists as it seeks to promote conversation and creative work that will forge a love-driven response to hate, hurt, and fear. Previous high profile speakers include Jose Antonio Vargas, Patrisse Cullors, CeCe McDonald, and Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez.

Community Empowerment Outreach and Writing in Community Series: This virtual series provides a space for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ graduate students to meet for writing and study sessions while building a community of accountability and support for meeting academic deadlines and personal writing goals.

Student Leaders Engagement and Empowering Student Leaders Series (ESLS): Offered 3-times per quarter, this series of workshops led by presenters share space with students that foster engaging dialogue and activities where students can develop their skills as leaders and advocates for marginalized communities.

Research-based Outreach and Intersectional Justice Certificate Program: This two-quarter program creates a critical learning and training environment for students to engage with topics of social justice, intercultural dialogue, and political engagement, both in theory and as a series of training activities that will prepare students to become Intersectional Justice Facilitators.

We appreciate your time and invite you to donate and share information about Give Day with your friends, family, peers, and respective communities. Your support will provide the resources and opportunities for students of different communities and identities to thrive at UCSB!
